GW Manufacturing showcase production capability and sustainability focus

GW Manufacturing, based in Taichung, Taiwan, is a leading supplier to the bicycle industry with clients that range in size from boutique brands to internationally known companies.

The business, which has years of expertise in designing and high-quality manufacturing enabling it to offer a comprehensive line of modern products including hubs, thru-axles, headsets, and chain guides, is now beginning to showcase its sustainability efforts.

Committed to sustainable production

GW states it is “committed to producing high-quality products through green production and recycling, enhancing resource efficiency to achieve a circular green economy”.

In practice, this means:

  • Replacing Primary Aluminium with Recycled Aluminium: GW recycles aluminium chips generated during the manufacturing of bicycle parts, reintroducing recycled aluminium into the production cycle.
  • Aluminium Alloy Waste Recycling: Through effective recycling methods, the team at GW reduces energy consumption and decreases aluminium slag output by 30%.

Manufacturing capability and flexibility

In October of 2023, GW opened a new factory, located in Taichung Industrial Park.

Across nearly 6,800 sq.m. (75,000 sq. ft.) the floor space is loaded with efficient, high-capacity machinery, including banks of multi-axis Mori-Seiki and Brother mills and lathes.

Thanks to the flexibility of Japanese CNC machines, the business can customise and produce products to suit most needs.

In addition to its multi-axis CNC machines, GW also has equipment for development, testing, quality control, finishing, assembly and packaging.

A significant area has been dedicated to automatic material feeding turning centres that eliminate the need, and extra cost, of fixturing.

The Taichung Industry Park factory serves as the primary GW headquarters in Taiwan.

European offices

EU-based offices located in Barcelona, Spain, offering sales, service, warranty and warehousing, whilst the Bosco, Italy office serves as a sales centre.

Global visibility

2024 saw the business attending and exhibiting at Eurobike, and Sea Otter Classic, as well as showcasing its capabilities at Taipei Cycle, where the business promoted its recycling service, whilst offering a headset spacer made from 100% environmentally friendly aluminium to stand visitors.
